In
1971 I left the Gambia working on a ship. After seven years
at sea I settled in Sweden. In the north of this great
country I became fascinated by the vast woodlands and decided to work
with wood. From 1980 to 1984 I studied wood technology, glazing and
building in Sweden. After that I worked as an Instructor of
wood technology for years.
1990 I returned to West
Africa and spent many years collecting waste wood from industry and
nature, transforming it to sculptures, furniture and other wood products.
I trained local people, taught them about the value of the wood in their
surroundings and how to avoid wasting it. My customers come from all over
the world.
After a six year interval
in which I opened a workshop in Sweden I returned again to Africa. Here
I am doing now what I know and like best: working with Savanna wood.
